Description
The Steve Robertson Youth Theater Workshop is co-sponsored by the High Street Theater Foundation and the Moorpark Boys and Girls club. The after-school theater workshop will train Moorpark youth, ages 8-16, in the basic skills of the theater -- acting, music, dance, theater terminology, and theater ethics. The objective is to provide Moorpark youth a theater workshop experience and to make it affordable and available to a large cross section of Moorpark families. The target enrollment for each workshop is 25 to 30 students. Guided by local professionals, participants work together to develop and present a workshop production at a local theater.
No audition is required for admission to this workshop, however after the workshop has started, auditions will be held to determine which roles the children will play in their production. Everyone will have a role in the play. There will be two performances at the conclusion of the workshop.

Tuition
Tuition is $295 for for the full session. Fifteen scholarships are available for members of the Moorpark Boys and Girls Club. Paperwork will include a hold harmless disclaimer, a medical release form, parent contact information and a Theater Etiquette Contract to be signed by parents and students.
Facilities
The workshop is sponsored by the HSTF. The workshop is held at The Boys and Girls Club of Moorpark.
Staff
The workshop will be conducted by an experienced professional theater director who is supported by a Music Director and one staff member. The Youth Theater Workshop will also feature special lectures from seasoned performers and directors, like Steve Robertson, the namesake for our workshop.
Steve Robertson has been the Drama Instructor at Moorpark High School for over 40 years and has directed inumerable plays and Melodramas at the theater on High Street.
The High Street Theater Foundation is an independent 501c3 organization and makes no direct contributions to the High Street Arts Center.
